Wales

Beyond Time

Beyond Time

Those 5000 year old neolithic monuments are scattered across Wales. There are so many of them, that most of them are hardly fenced off, standing there in the middle of meadows and fields. Few people realise, that these structures have been standing there for almost half of humanities history, overlooking the constant change around them. Once this particular set of stone was a burial chamber, hosting a long gone body under a heap of stone and earth, which is also long gone. what remains is the scaffold of the burial chamber miraculously made out of stones so big they seem to be beyond time.

Lava Lake @ Mt. Nyiragongo

Lava Lake @ Mt. Nyiragongo

This is what awaits you after hours of trekking up the 3300m volcano: an active lava lake. The first sight of it after climbing over the last ridge of the summit rim is overwhelming. At night the thundering and churning lake turns into a fiery orange disc with ever-changing patterns on it.
